Ingredients

Tom Collins drinks are usually made with a pre-made mixer which contains a fair amount of sugar. Don't let that keep you from enjoying this refreshing drink. A Vodka Collins is exactly the same thing, only using vodka instead of gin. This drink is low in calories as well as carbs.

* 1 jigger (1.5 oz or 3 tablespoons) gin (nutritional analysis uses 80 proof)
* 1 oz (2 tablespoons) lemon juice (fresh-squeezed is best)
* Artificial sweetener with the equivalent of 2 tablespoons sugar (zero carb sweetener such as liquid sucralose preferred)
* (flat)Club soda
* Lemon slice for garnish

Cooking Instructions

Mix gin (or vodka), lemon juice, and sweetener in a glass. Add club soda to taste, and then add ice cubes. Garnish with lemon slices (skip the traditional cherry at 2 grams of carbohydrate each).

Note: Banded patients should not consume carbonated beverages. You will need to allow the club soda to go flat to make this drink)

Nutritional Information: Each serving has 2 grams effective carbohydrate if using bottled lemon juice, 2.5 grams for fresh lemon juice, and 103 calories.
