Ashlie struggled with a major eating disorder and could not stop on her own.  She would binge eat for comfort.  Over the years her weight began to spiral out of control.  After having three children, her weight got even worse.  Ashlie struggled to do ordinary tasks and was often out of breath and sweating just walking across the room.  She felt terrible about herself and thought of herself as a bad mother because she couldn’t enjoy her children as many mothers do because of her obesity.  She just couldn’t run, play, and do things a normal person could do because her weight was so debilitating.

Ashlie tried dieting but would always gain the weight back.  Each time she dieted and lost weight she would gain it all back and then some.  She knew herself and her disorder and knew she would have to force herself to have a restricted diet to lose weight.  Ashlie knew intellectually that surgery was the only option that would force her to have this type of restrictive diet that would not allow for cheating and going back to her old habits.  Ashlie felt like she was literally eating herself to death.

Ashlie underwent Gastric Sleeve Surgery in January 2022 weighing nearly 250 lbs.  A year following surgery Ashlie has lost over 146 lbs and is down to 140 lbs.  Ashlie has gone from a size 24 to a size 10 in less than a year.

Ashlie used to hate going shopping for clothing because her clothing never fit properly.  Most of her shopping trips would end in tears because she would hate the way she looked in clothing in the dressing room.  These days she loves going shopping and feels so excited to try on clothes like a teenage girl.  Everything fits perfectly now on her frame and she has been able to regain and build her personal confidence.  Most importantly, Ashlie can now play with her kids and has boundless amounts of energy.  Ashlie often cries to herself tears of joy when she thinks of everything she has been through.  She has completely changed her life not only for herself but for her entire family.  She now loves who she is and is proud of all of her accomplishments.  Instead of fearing an untimely death from obesity, she is now enjoying the present and looking forward to the future.
