Make Weight Management a Lifetime Goal
What happens after I lose all my weight? The key to keeping weight off after a diet is incorporating habits of sound nutrition, regular exercise, and reasonable expectations that you can stick to for a lifetime. These lifestyle changes are an investment in your future.
Rediscover yourself!
This is another response I pulled out of the archive, that maybe helpful. Ann asks a good question. Here is what she had to say. Hi Gena, Thank you for all of your postings. They are really comforting. I want to ask you something though. You said you have been banded for 5 years (over 8yrs. now). Is your band still in? Have you ever had any problems since the initial surgery or had to go back to see Dr. Kuri (other than for fills)?
Develop slimming habits that help you lose weight
When it comes to losing weight, learning to develop healthy habits is the key to keeping the weight off. They may seem a bit strange at first. But with regular practice they will become part of your daily routine.
How to Chew Food After Weight Loss Surgery
Sure, we've all learned to chew at a young age, but most people don't realize the importance of properly chewing food. But for people that have a Lap Band, taking small bites and really chewing their food is even more important then ever before. Mastering this one little task will make all the difference in the world when it comes to eating with a Lap Band.

Fill in the blank
Reflect on your goals for the day. How is what you are doing working towards those goals? Is a shift in focus needed? Write down a goal for the day. Revisit this throughout the day. Visualize your actions to achieve this goal.
The ticking time bomb
If you have been banded you know that drinking carbonated beverages is a big no no. And it never seems to fail that I still talk to patients that are convinced that drinking diet soda is not a problem, because nothing happens. The sky did not open up and the walls did not come down around them. I respond with "that first cigarette does not kill you either" But some need more convincing. So if losing your band is not enough incentive to drop your bubbly habit, how about if you found out that for each can of diet soft drink consumed each day, increased a person’s risk of obesity went up 41%.
Change doesn’t happen just because we want it to
